While many of our guests can no longer visit we have put in place additional measures for those that are still able to come and enjoy the Mackenzie and Twizel.


One of these measures is now a 3 day stand down period between guests; current guidelines indicate that the COVID19 virus can only survive 72 hours on surfaces. As an additional pre-caution for our incoming guests after the property has been throughly cleaned by our team there will be a 3 day stand down in place BEFORE your arrival. By doing this we are minimising risk to our guests and providing as much reassurance as we can.


If you are feeling like you just need to get out of the city to the open spaces of the Mackenzie we now have more options for you. There are guests who are now looking at staying for longer periods of time, longer than our usual 2-3 night stays so we have introduced Weekly and Monthly rates on many of our homes. Located directly under the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve and a short drive to the Aoraki Mt Cook National Park, numerous Lakes and Canals and Lake Tekapo. The Living Wage concept is very simple, yet powerful – it’s the hourly wage a worker needs to pay for the necessities of life and participate as an active citizen in the community. It reflects the basic expenses of workers and their families such as food, transportation, housing and childcare, and is calculated independently each year by the New Zealand Family Centre Social Policy Unit.
